Projects & Process

Cole & Joslin's approach encourages conversations through play, using materials, language and performance to generate dialogue and reflection. The outcomes are varied and speculative;  this material is used to create video works that are shared with participants during the process of making and testing. Contributors are consulted throughout and conversations are maintained to ensure full transparency and engagement. This is a slow way to work, responsive to the sensitivities and vulnerabilities inherent within a creative process and can have significant impact on the lives of the people who participate.

Since our collaboration began, we have primarily worked with people who have come together to find support and ways to move on from their varied and difficult circumstances. We also work with organisations and other artists and researchers, offering workshops and talks to expand the conversation about how creative approaches can support recovery, build confidence and new communities.
