The Light & The Load

Fabrica, Brighton,  February 2019.

Week-long residency, creating a nine-screen video installation, with a Q&A event

Cole & Joslin used this week to reconfigure work made during Messy Business. Responding to the space of the former church, we used projectors, objects, light and sound to create an installation that re-framed some of the questions that had emerged for us whilst working with survivors of domestic abuse.

Visitors on the final day commented on what had resonated with them, with a conversations about revealing process, undertsanding trauma and articulating lived experience.

This residency led to Cole & Joslin seeking funding from the Arts Council to learn to use more immersive technologies, such as 360 video, to explore how this might enable more empathic audience engagement with this subject.
